Ever wondered what it’s like to live in a retirement community? Here’s a snapshot of a typical day in Village Lifestyle Park.
The number of retirees choosing to live in a retirement community is on the rise – and if you’re over 55 and looking to downsize, it can be a great move.
Retirement communities offer residents an affordable and low-maintenance home, a close-knit community, the peace of mind of added security and a host of on-site facilities. But what’s life really like on a day-to-day basis? There are lots of ways to spend your time in Village Lifestyle Park, and a “typical” day will look different for everyone depending on your own unique interests. So, to give you a sense of what’s on offer, here’s some favourite activities our residents enjoy.
With great facilities on site, you can start the day off right with some gentle exercise. Whether it’s a stroll around the grounds, a workout in the gym, or a swim in either the indoor or outdoor pool, there’s options to suit everyone. And having it all on your doorstep makes it easy to keep the motivation going strong and to enjoy staying active in retirement.
The Traralgon Golf Club is a just a five-minute drive from the Village, and on a fine morning, there’s nothing better than a leisurely round of golf. The course is suitable for golfers of all abilities so no matter if you’re a pro or beginner, play solo or with a friend, you’ll enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful golf course.
Get Out and About
Both Traralgon and Morwell are within easy reach of the Village, and offer plenty of shopping and eating options when you feel like an outing. Their close proximity is also handy for accessing essential services and running errands. And for days when you feel like venturing further afield, there are plenty of gorgeous places to visit in the Gippsland region. From mountains to the bush, and open countryside to the beach, you won’t have to go far to enjoy a picturesque walk or a picnic.
Village residents spend hours tending the gardens within their own private, fenced block and in the large communal vegie patch. The shared vegie garden allows everyone to pitch in and grow a range of seasonal vegetables to be eaten and enjoyed by all. And because our homes are fenced and private, residents can grow their favourite plants in their own backyard and spend many happy hours immersed in nature on their own doorstep.
A big drawcard of over-55s living is being part of a community of like-minded people, and at Village there are lots of ways to get together with friends and meet new people. The recreation room is central to this and is a popular spot for activities and spontaneous get-togethers. With a kitchen, pool table and plenty of seating, it’s cosy and welcoming – you can even relax by the fire on a chilly day. Village Lifestyle Park also has a great range of organised activities available to participate in, both on and off-site. Plus, we’re always open to ideas and happy to introduce new options based on resident’s feedback.
Come See for Yourself
This is just a small taste of some of the ways you could spend your days as a Village resident – and the best part is you can choose to be as social or low key as you like. There’s always something going on, but if you prefer to relax at home, each of our houses are fenced and offer privacy for those times when you want to invite friends and family around for a visit, or just want some peace and quiet. Of course, the best way to get a sense of life in the Village is to come and see for yourself. We’d be happy to show you around the grounds and facilities and allow you to meet and chat with current residents. So, get in touch and book a tour today!
